"Green Talents 2011": rewards for 20 outstanding up-and-coming scientists

Twenty outstanding up-and-coming young scientists from all over the world were acclaimed as "Green Talents" during a festive ceremony on 15 December 2011.     "Green Talents" awardee selected "Youth Ambassador for Climate Change" for the United Nations Climate Conference in Durban 2011

    The 17th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP17) will take place from November 28 to December 9, 2011, in Durban, South Africa. "Green Talent" Aluwani Nemukula, winner of the international "Green Talents"-Competition funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), will participate as "Youth Ambassador for Climate Change" at COP 17. The "Youth Ambassador" initiative is driven by the South African eThekwini Environmental Planning and Climate Protection Department and is aimed at encouraging climate change leadership amongst youth.

    They are young, international and have proven outstanding scientific talent in the field of sustainability research. 20 young researchers from all over the world are the new winners of the 2010 international Green Talents Competition, awarded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This year they are coming back to Germany for a research stay.

    BMBF-Call - International Partnerships for Sustainable Technologies and Services for Climate Protection and the Environment (CLIENT)

    The aim of the funding measure is to introduce model projects to help establish and expand international partnerships in the research, development and application of environmental and climate protection technologies and services and to trigger the development of lead markets in this area. In addition to technological aspects, this also includes socio-economic issues, questions of good governance, and stakeholder involvement at an early stage. Next application deadline for definition projects is August 31st 2011.

    Federal Minister of Education and Research Schavan honours the winners of the "Green Talents" international sustainability award

    On 2 November 2010 German Federal Minister of Education and Research Professor Annette Schavan honoured the winners of this year's "Green Talents" international sustainability award for their research. She received the 20 award winners at the 7th BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) Forum for Sustainability (FONA) in Berlin.
