Joint Working Group

The Indo-German Programme on Science for Sustainability is coordinated by a Joint Working Group (JWG) under the Indo-German Committee on Science and Technology. BMBF and DST are born members of the JWG. The International Bureau of the BMBF acts as secretary, UNU, German Embassy, GTZ and other partners are involved (depending on topics). The JWG already had four meetings and agreed to continue the very fruitful dialogue with the 4th German-Indian conference on "Science for Sustainability", planned to take place in combination with the FONA Forum 2010.

Agreement on the operational details of the programme and priority topics: energy, land use, water and waste management.


 

2nd Meeting of the Indo-German Joint Working Group on Science for Sustainability

Preparation for 2nd Indo-German conference "Science for Sustainability - Driver for a Common Future" on Research for Sustainability on 27 and 28 April 2009 in Bonn, Germany.

 

3rd Meeting of the Indo-German Joint Working Group on Science for Sustainability

Agreements on the following topics:

  • Adoption of the recommendations of the Indo-German Science for Sustainability Conference in Bonn
  • Discussions on participation and involvement of DST and BMBF in the Indo-German Energy Forum
  • Mechanisms and modalities to invite and support joint research projects in sustainability research
  • Discussions and decision on holding next Indo-German Science for Sustainability Conference in Chennai on Water and Waste Management research for sustainability.

 

4th Meeting of the Indo-German Joint Working Group on Science for Sustainability

4 February 2010, IIT Delhi, New Delhi/ India

Outcome:

  1. Collaboration of India and Germany in the new BMBF funding scheme "International Partnerships for Sustainable Environmental and Climate Protection Technologies and Services" (in planning) envisaged
  2. BMBF invited India to participate in the 2nd international call for scholarships "Green Talents" 2010
  3. 4th conference on Science for Sustainability (land use, water, waste management) will be held in Berlin End of September 2010 (tbc)
  4. Future Indo-German Collaboration in energy research will be coordinated under the "Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF)", Subgroup 4.
