Green Talents

Green Talents

With the 'Green Talents' competition the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research invites outstanding young scientists from all over the world to visit some of Germany's best-known institutions for research on sustainability.

Competition 2010

The interest in this year's competition "Green Talents - The International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development" has excelled our expectations - we would like to thank the numerous applicants that have contributed to this highly competetive programme. The application process is closed now, and we are glad to see that the Forum under the patronage of the German Federal Research Minister Professor Annette Schavan has met such wide-ranged attention. We are also happy to announce that the BMBF has decided to raise the number of winners.

So, the Green Talents competition 2010 will give more exceptional young scientists the opportunity to meet and exchange views with today's leading experts in Germany. The winners will participate in a ten-day international science forum expectedly taking place from November 1 to November 11, 2010. Touring through Germany, the "Green Talents" will visit leading universities, research institutions and companies active in the field of sustainable development (learn more about the stations in the section below). They will gather specific information about research activities on site and learn about opportunities for cooperation with German partners. In addition to several cultural events, the Forum will also include individual meetings with experts and an opportunity for the "Green Talents" to present their own research. The "Green Talents" will be decorated for their outstanding researches in the field of sustainability during the award ceremony at the 7th BMBF Forum "Research for Sustainable Development" in Berlin on November 2, 2010.
During the year following their participation in the Green Talents Forum, the BMBF will invite the winners of the competition to return to Germany for an additional research stay (up to three months) at a German university, research institution or company in order to carry out or further develop a research project.

The winners are currently beeing selected by our expert jury. Their names will be published on this website by mid September 2010 at the earliest. So keep an eye out!
