Amongst the findings of the workshop, participants stressed the necessity to think of research for sustainability integrated in a system, taking into account the role of environmental services and economic and socio-cultural factors. A simultaneous consideration of ecology, technology and socio-economic factors was seen as crucial - instead of just focusing on each of the aspects in isolation.
